Hi Everybody,
Pretty embarrassing story, but I got fired from the USPS as a carriers assistant after only 3 days. There were extenuating circumstances that caused me to leave the first day 30 minutes early and get to the second day 30 minutes late. I would have explained in full to my instructor but it was pretty personal, involving my marriage, and I was shy to do so. But right off the bat I got 3 days.
Then I, extremely stupidly, wandered into a no-go zone off the smoking section outside during a break and had to be escorted back inside by security. I was distracted and wanted to be my myself for a moment, mulling over the same said issue, and I simply didn't see the signs. Long story short, I got canned.
And now I'm wondering if I can re-apply for a CCA in Ohio, since I live in pittsburgh right around the border and could easily commute the 45 minute drive to restart in OH. Also I have a lot of friends in OH. That's the whole story.
Advice? Help? Very very grateful if someone can set me straight about the plan of re-applying in a new state, even if it's just to tell me hey, sorry bud but that's not even possible. Thanks!

When you were removed you should have received a form 50 in the mail stating the nature of your removal. Do you have that? It will say something like “terminated” or “resignation” etc. Look to see what that says. Even if it does say you were terminated, you were a CCA for a few days. The postal service hires people back all the time. Give it a shot and apply again. As long as you didn’t assault someone or steal you’ll have a chance.

Where you reapply, which state, is irrelevant. Honestly I doubt they would blacklist you in this case. I know people who have done worse and labor has still found an excuse to bring back. Your problems don't fall into that category. So reapply wherever you want, either you get another chance or you don't. I'd be surprised if you were not given another shot. Just remember next time, the first 90 days, never be late. Never be sick. Do whatever they tell you to do, as long as it's not illegal, immoral or fattening at least. After 90 days you can start worrying more about right and wrong.

I think that you stand a decent chance if the only problem was what you described. |
